USDA-funded Research Projects for the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station (VAES)

• Integrated – This list of VAES projects is classified as integrated. At the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and throughout the land-grant university system, integrated commonly refers to the combination of research, education, and Extension activities. These activities address critical national, regional, and multi-state agricultural issues, priorities, or problems.

• Multistate Research Activities – This list of VAES projects is classified as multistate research. The majority of the NIFA-sponsored research within the land-grant system is carried out through multistate research activities, which are authorized by the Hatch Act. Research projects address high-priority topics within State Agricultural Experiment Stations (SAES) in partnership with NIFA, other research institutions, and agencies, and with the Cooperative Extension Service (CES).

Awards for Research Excellence

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) research division established the Award for Research Excellence in 2002 for the purpose of promoting research in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences of Virginia Tech.

To achieve this purpose, CALS Research awards annually two Awards for Research Excellence to two CALS faculty, who have reached a level of research achievement, judged to be the most significant within their discipline. One award will recognize excellence in conducting basic research, while the other will reward excellence in mission-oriented or applied research.  More >>
